What can I expect at my first visit?

Your first visit is all about assessing your oral health and dental needs so we can create a personalized treatment plan. We’ll first take any necessary X-rays and perform a dental exam. Based on this initial examination and your goals for your health and smile, we’ll provide you with recommendations for future treatments. Many times, we will also perform a teeth cleaning during your first appointment.

Will I be able to get major dental work done immediately?

If you have an urgent dental condition, we make it a priority to diagnose and treat the issue before it negatively affects your oral health even more. Afterwards, we’ll focus on routine and preventive care to give you a solid foundation for oral hygiene. We can also provide effective restorative procedures as needed to help ensure a lifetime of healthy smiles.

How long will it take to get an appointment?

It depends on what your specific dental needs are as well as your preferred day and time. That being said, we do everything we can to make it convenient and easy for you to visit our office. We also accept emergency appointments and walk-ins during our regular hours.

What do I do if I have a dental emergency?

We leave room in our daily schedules just in case dental emergencies come up. If you experience an emergency during our regular hours, please call us immediately at 952-472-7717 so we can see you as soon as possible.

What if I need to reschedule my appointment?

We understand that unexpected situations can come up that conflict with your scheduled appointment. If this happens, we ask that you please call us as soon as you know. We never double book appointments, so we want to make sure your appointment time can be made available to another patient.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT YOUR FIRST VISIT
During your first appointment at West Lakes Dentistry, we will collect information needed to complete a comprehensive evaluation of your current oral health. This will often include digital radiographs, intraoral photos and documentation of your existing condition. Your dentist will then develop a personalized treatment plan to address your specific needs and goals. Our goal is to identify any potential risks you have for future problems and make recommendations to help lower those risks over time. Our focus is always on preventative, therapeutic and conservative treatment recommendations.

Based on the evaluation of your dentist, we will also provide a standard cleaning, which includes removing any plaque and tartar in addition to polishing your teeth. If you have been diagnosed with a serious oral condition requiring urgent care, we will do everything we can to treat you right away. Keeping you healthy is our main priority!
